Lord Byron, Hitler, Johnny Depp and Lewis Carroll. What do these unlikely bedfellows share in common?

Dark Moon Lilith. (Also known as Waldemath Moon and Sepharials Moon.)

Out of all the Liliths this one is the hardest to define, it seems to be the place in our psyche than shows our primal, impersonal instincts that need to be channeled creatively. Otherwise there is great danger that these can turn self destructive or destructive to others. This is the inner demon. Juan Antonio suggests we call this the "ghost" moon.

This energy does not do well being used for selfish desire. It needs to be purged via creative expression. It's dark absorbing nature lends it to attracting the negative projections of human motions. If we shed light on these within the collective consciousness it could be a way of cleansing wounds suffered by all humanity which some say encircle the earths vibrational energy field like a grey smog.
Thinking of it as a "ghost" moon seems very apt. We see expressions of Lilith in Fairytales. Witches, owls, sprites, magicians, dragons and all manner of mysterious creatures appeal very much to children and adult children who are still intouch with this primal, mythical world.

How this relates to Lilith herself would be the time when she was in exile where she took the form of an owl. It was here she gets the reputation as the baby killer. Taking revenge for her own children being taken away from her, she is said to have responded destroying others. I see the "babies" also being metaphors for creativity in general. The other connection with children is the word Lulaby. "The name is from Assyrian lay'la, Hebrew Lil (night) which already in Accadian meant sorcery. It probably personified the darkness that soothed children to slumber; and the word Lullaby has been derived from Lilith Abi. " Grace Ellery Williams

So Lulabys were originally sung to protect children from the threat of Lilith taking your child in her sleep! I found this quote on a religious website blaming SIDs on Lilith.

So going back to the original myth. Remember Lilith left Paradise voluntarily for refusing to bow down to Adam and accept inferior status. The fact she refused the Angels plea's 3 times to return shows incredible will. The above quote and much of societies reaction when someone steadfastly holds onto their sovereignity is hard to take. It is painful to be forced into exile even if it was your own choice hence the paradox of pain/pleasure in having a strong Dark Moon Lilith in your chart. I think it has quite a Sado/masochistic tone to it.

The self destructiveness through the use of drugs is a great temptation. Like the forbidden fruit in the garden of Eden. But if one uses this energy creatively, many drugs can be used shamanically to unlock the demons festering in the collective consciousness. The use of Psychedelic's in the 60's and the Music and Art that came out of that springs to mind. But it should not become a habit and that's where the dangers with this Dark moon lie.


Dark Moon Men

Hitler's Dark Moon is placed in the Cancerean 4th house and in eccentric Aquarius. This gives it the vengeful, baby killer vibe. So a seriously warped edge to his mothering of the German people. It is sestiquadrate the wounded Chiron, bringing out the revenge and retaliation from his shadow. Chiron in the 9th can have a religious zeal about it. His savior complex played out in the ethnic cleansing of what he regarded as "impure" beings. His demonization of the Jews. His Dark moon is also amped up by a semi-square to Jupiter (38') which is conjunct the moon itself in Capricorn. His lunar energies taking on a parental role, rigid, dictatorial, and judgmental (Jupiter) mixed with a vengeful Dark moon.

Lewis Carroll was the reclusive son of a Clergyman and maths teacher who wrote Alice And Wonderland. Often described as the "shy, fussy bachelor". He was childless, but loved children, but mainly young girls, his bad stammer was said to disappear totally when speaking with them. He was also an avid artistic photographer, specialising in children, he would dress them up in costumes and also take nudes. He abandoned this when there was talk that his interest was of a sexual nature.
His Dark moon is in intense and sexual Scorpio in the 11th house house of hopes and wishes. Since it seems he didn't fulfill his desires sexually since he was such a recluse, we can only assume he channelled this energy into his writing.
The tightest aspect was a quincunx to Pluto (14") the lord of the underworld himself. It was he who pulled the innocent Alice much like Persephone down the rabbit hole. Nobody knows for sure wether "Alice" was inspired by an altered state and wether Carroll did fall prey to the Dark Moon forbidden fruit of Opium. But laudanum, a tincture of opium in alcohol, was a standard painkiller at the time. Scorpio is on the cusp of the "druggy" 12th house. Dark moon is also opposed Chiron in the house of children and lovers. was he wounded in some way in childhood or a lover? Dark moon is also semi-squared by Venus. (Women, love.) So this suggests some sort of issue with love and women in general. Maybe he felt safer with little girls. Of course the Dark Moon has the child stealer element to it, but we can only speculate as to wether there was anything sinaster in his connection with these little "Alice's". Who knows if he was gay and saw himself in them. I which case it would've been all very innocent and rather sweet.

Lord Byron was one of the great romantic poets, extremely handsome, yet born with a club foot. He was famous for an outrageous sex life consisting of multiple partners, orgies, dabbles in homosexuality and incest with his half sister. Love was the drug for him, and it seems to have inspired his poetry.
His chart shows the Dark Moon tightly conjunct his Sun (34') and in the 8th house. So this creativity had to be expressed sexually and thru all the dark, melancholy themes mentioned. The Dark moon was integral to his persona. It is also quintile the Vertex by 1 deg. So destiny encounters probably again thru his lovers (5th house) show how important his muses were to him. The quintile is a magical, creative aspect also. The dark moon is also amped up by being semi squared a 12th house Jupiter further emphasizing the mysterious, otherworldliness of this energy.


Johnny Depp is a bit of a gothic Peter Pan. Famous for his choice of quirky, dark roles and being distinctly anti-Hollywood. A chain smoker at 12 and precocious with sex. Loosing his virginity at 13. Then serial monogamy with engagements to succession of Lilithy girlfriends. Famed for a wild temper, having once drunkenly smashed up a hotel room causing 10 000 dollars worth of damage.
His Dark moon is conjunct his MC by 3 degs and in earthy sensual Taurus. He wears it well and has made a career out of it. A fixed and firey (9th house) Dark moon sticks to his guns and forceful with his "outside the box" creativity. He has never sold himself out.
He has a semi-square to an 8th house occultish Chiron. Fueling this maverick with a certain magic. His Dark moon also trined (1 deg) by Uranus powerful in the first. Bringing out the more innovative, maverick and eccentric side to the Dark Moon creative possibilities. Out of the four men I think he has had the easier ride with this facet of Lilith.

I thought I'd quickly look at Gothic film director Tim Burton. Famous for his films about misfits and outcasts. Very Lilith in Exile! Next year he is bringing Johnny Depp and Carroll together in his version of Alice and Wonderland. A perfect marriage of Neptune/Pluto with Dark Moon Lilith if ever there was one.
